Meet and Greet (08 September 2026)

Save the date for the first meeting of the 2025-2026 year. It will be our meet and greet and unjudged flower and picture show. We are asking all our gardeners, plant enthusiast and photographers to bring something they've grown, cultivated, nourished or photographed in their garden or on their windowsill over this summer. It will be your time to WOW the members. In addition, it would also be wonderful to learn how the plants from the Monarch Butterfly kits grew and what pollinators were attracted.

Bring a friend. All are welcome

Light refreshments will be provided.

Fall Plant & Garden Item Swap (13 October 2026)

EVERYBODY WINS at HSSJ plant swaps!

Our plant swap works a little differently than most plant swaps. Please read the guidelines and how-to below.

Guidelines:

You may bring multiple plants. If you cannot bring a plant, please purchase a plant at a local garden center to contribute.
Arrive about 6:30 pm to get your plants on the tables so our event can start at 7pm.
Suggested items include houseplants, seedlings, seeds, bulbs, succulents and cacti, water plants, gardening books, and clean garden tools in good condition.
No invasive, sick, or insect-infested plants.
If potting up plants from the garden, please do so a couple of days in advance.
Label your plant and list growing instructions.
Please make sure items are neatly contained (no overflowing water or dirt) to minimize mess in the meeting space.

How-to:

Everyone gets one ticket. Please do not lose this.
Once we are ready to begin, the announcer will call out a ticket number. If that's you, you go up to the tables full of plants and select one item. Then you go and sit down.
Once all tickets have been called, we will do it all over again.
There are typically about 3 or 4 rounds depending on how many plants are brought to the event.
When there are not enough plants to do a full round, it will be opened up for first come first served. No stampeding please.
If there are still plants left over and no one wants them, they go home with the person who brought them.

Holiday Party featuring Plant Bingo! (08 December 2026)

It’s time for the HSSJ annual Holiday Party! This year we will be featuring several rounds of Bingo with fabulous plant prizes!

Please bring a small appetizer or dessert to share with the group. The Club will provide drinks, paper products, and the Bingo activity.

Please note that this event is MEMBERS ONLY. If you’re not already a paid member or would like to bring a partner or friend, please consider a paid membership to join in on the fun.

Chance Auction (12 January 2027)

You never know what will show up at the HSSJ annual auction... plants, gift items, homemade crafts, books, holiday "regifts", or even that item that you won at last year's auction!

While there are no guarantees on what will be up for grabs, there will definitely be lots of fun and laughs! Bring up to 5 new or gently used giveaways... and a friend too!

Tickets are $5 for 25. You must be present to win.

* Any item that you bring that no one wants must be taken home by you.
